MEETING RECAP
Last night, members of 100 Women Who Care - Elk Rapids Area gathered at the A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort pavilion where the following numbers were highlighted in the opening remarks:

  • 100+ VOLUNTEER HOURS were supplied by our members for the 70th Harbor Days festival.

  • 18 MEMBERS danced in the Harbor Days Parade which generated much applause ...and several new members!

  • 275 MEMBERS is our current membership count....and to think we were hoping for 75 members when we started four years ago.

  • $250,000+ DONATED - That's right; with tonight's meeting we will have given over a QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS to 11 Antrim County nonprofits!

Next, we heard from three members passionate about causes and organizations that improve the quality of life in Antrim County. Carol Heles presented on behalf of Grand Traverse Industries; Nancy Taylor shared the work of Help From My Friends Pet Crisis Center; and Peg Whisler introduced us to Communities in Schools.

Members selected Grand Traverse Industries to receive our collective donation which will be used to finance and service the four vans they need to transport their adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to and from their center in Mancelona to jobs and community activities.

REPORT FROM OUR MAY RECIPIENT - STAR TOWNSHIP VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS FOOD PANTRY, INC.
Phyllis Hoogerhyde shared that the food pantry has been able to purchase a food dehydrator, which allows them to stretch their availability of fresh produce. She has also been able to shop for much-needed items, and will continue to use our gift to address food insecurity needs for people in eastern Antrim County.
